Urooj NazirCristiano Ronaldo has discussed the revelation that Saudi Arabia will host the FIFA World Cup in 2034.
The football player, who plays for both the Portugal national team and the Saudi Pro League Club Al Nassr, said that the competition in ten years would be the “best-ever.”
The only bidder for the 2034 World Cup was Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia’s attempts to become a global leader in sport have been bolstered by its 2034 hosting rights, which its detractors claim is a ploy to “sports wash” its human rights record.
According to a statement issued by the Football Association (FA) shortly after the award, FA backing was given following human rights assurances from its Saudi FA counterparts.
