“I’ve always adored her,” the Wicked actress remarked about the founder of Rare Beauty.
Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande support one another. The “Yes, And?” singer and the founder of Rare Beauty were seated next to each other at the Academy Women’s Luncheon in Los Angeles on Tuesday, December 10. Gomez told Variety that Grande was among the first people to message her following their respective Golden Globe nominations for Best Supporting Actress the day before.
The star of Only Murders in the Building added, “Ariana texted me and it was the sweetest note and it was about six in the morning.” She also mentioned that Benny Blanco, her boyfriend, emailed her congratulations at the same time. “We voice-messaged one another. It was so thrilling.
Additionally, Grande told the magazine that she has “always adored” Gomez. The R.E.M. Beauty tycoon declared, “I have a great deal of respect for her.” When she saw us together on that list, I was overjoyed. It was very unique.
Grande continued, “I truly enjoy seeing this moment for Selena come to pass.” “I am aware of the amount of time and effort she has put in. I can identify that since I can relate to that emotion. Therefore, why not connect with your industry buddies and congratulate them on their excellent work? I’m thrilled to sit next to Selena today because I don’t know her as well as I would like to.
Gomez posted a picture of their hands, which were identifiable from their individual tattoos, on Instagram Stories when they were seated next to one another at the luncheon honoring women in Hollywood. Gomez also referred to Grande as a “angel on earth.” The “We Can’t Be Friends” singer is vying for the prize for Wicked, while the Wizards of Waverly Place alum is nominated for best supporting actress at the 2025 Globes for her role in Emilia Pérez. The two women are in the same category as Isabella Rossellini from Conclave, Margaret Qualley from The Substance, Felicity Jones from The Brutalist, and Zoe Saldana, who costarred alongside Gomez.
Given that Gomez has long been a fan of Grande’s, it’s a great occasion overall. The former was among the first celebrities to respond to the latter’s teaser for new music in January: “FINALLY,” the Only Murders in the Building singer exclaimed in an enthusiastic comment on photos of Grande in the studio. And when Selena loaded up “7 Rings” earlier this year as a guest DJ on SiriusXM Hits 1, she exclaimed, “I can’t do anything enjoyable without listening to Ariana.”
At the time, she added, “I think she is amazing, and I just have so much fun. I feel so empowered.” “I suppose people notice that I’m the girl who plays Ariana all the time, but I adore it! She is excellent, in my opinion.
